An Avenue for Spiritual Metamorphosis
This book is a magnificent book that does nothing short of stirr the soul into movement. Her 1927 retreat: " Inner Grace and Outward Sign" is a true gift of grace! I read this book in the midst of a "dark night of the senses" - feeling lost and forsakened it gently and powerfully watered my parched and thirsty soul. Truly this woman must have been a channel of God's Grace and Spirit in her lifetime and her writings a gift to us all. Her retreats reawakened the desire in me to be open to God's ever present Spirit and Love, even, within the dryness and darkness. It made me better understand that the Spirit of God is ever moving and working in each one of us though we may not be able to clearly witness It's movement or hear Its silent murmurs. I recommend this book to all spiritual journeyers and believe that within its pages each will find the particular grace, light and courage needed.

An Avenue for Spiritual Metamorphosis
A magnificent collection of spiritual retreats that captures the soul exactly where it may find itself and stirs it to reawaken. Her 1927 retreat: "Inner Grace and Outward Sign" is grace itself! This book was a special "gift" to me when I found myself in the midst of the "dark night of the senses", felt lost and forsaken and my soul deep asleep. It awoke the desire to re-encounter God's Presence and Love, even within the "darkness" and find the courage that alone is found in Spirit. I recommend it highly to all and believe that within it's pages a "gift" of grace awaits for all who are in search of it.

The Woodwright's Shop: A Practical Guide to Traditional Woodcraft
Published in Paperback by Univ of North Carolina Pr (September, 1981)
Authors: Roy Underhill and Rod Underhill
Average review score:

Rod Underhill, the very talented and busy writer
It's amazing how many books Rod Underhill has written. Woodcarving! Internet business! Music! He seems to be today's version of Issac Asimov, tackling books on every known subject. All of his books, especially this one, are very well written. Maybe he should stop writing books with his brother Roy, and move out on his own.

If you only buy one book on the subject make it this!
This remarkable book by the even more remarkable Roy Underhill will inspire you to forget the breathing and ear protection apparatus and get out your hand tools! It has to be the singularily most inspiring woodworking book available. Enjoy the soft smells and quiet sounds of real craftmanship. The rest of the series is indispensible also. And if you enjoy this book you'll also love the book "Restoring Tuning & Using Classic Woodworking Tools" by Michael Dunbar. A MUST for any true craftsman at heart.

Detailed, candid, humorous, exceptionally well presented.
Alone Among Friends is the first full-scale biography of W. Robert Parks, the eleventh and longest-serving president of Iowa State University. The life of Parks and the evolution of his university are intimately intertwined compelling this biography to serve as a history of the nation's first land-grand university as well. Alone Among Friends is a detailed, candid, occasionally humorous, exceptionally well presented and highly recommended biography of the man who, more than any other, is inextricably linked to Iowa State University.

Dead Man's Gold (Judd, Cameron. Underhill Series.)

Excellent Book
About a year ago, my mother loaned me the Mountain War Trilogy. Up to this time I have never read anything by Cameron Judd, much less what some people would consider a "western." I loved them. Since then I have read the Mountainmen Trilogy, Boone, and Crockett Of Tennessee. I loved them all, even though I had to find some in the used book stores since several of his books are out of print. I think I have eventually found every book Cameron Judd has written. If you are reading this Cameron, I am one of your biggest fans.

A Doctor and his Wife
Published in Paperback by McMillen Publishing (01 October, 2001)
Author: Robert Underhill

Gripping
This is the story of Dr. George and Arline Montgomery and their experiences during World War II. Arline was a nurse and George was a doctor and paratrooper, fighting most notably in the Battle of the Bulge. Against all odds George survived the war. This story is a well researched account of their experiences based on interviews with the couple, and exerpts of letters George mailed to Arline during some of the most horrible fighting (they were stationed apart during the war). Many of the passages will keep you on the edge of your seat! Recommended.

GURPS Cliffhangers 2nd Edition
Published in Paperback by Steve Jackson Games (August, 2002)
Authors: Brian J. Underhill, Andrew Hackard, and Steve Jackson Games
Average review score:

An Era Revealed
GURPS Cliffhangers, like almost all GURPS books, is a gamemaster's delight. The book gathers handily in one place almost all the information you will want on the history and background of the 1920's - 1940's in one place. It not only covers the events and the background information for North America, but for almost all of the world. The layout is clean and well organized, and GURPS-specific rules are, as with all GURPS sourcebooks, confined to one chapter. This means that the book is easily usable as a source for GM's running campaignes set in the Cliffhanger era using different rulesystems. Several pages at the end are reserved for a very thorough bibliography of othe sources - not just books, but comics, films, and other games. If you're looking at running a cliffhanger/pulp style game, you can't do wrong by using GURPS Cliffhangers as a starting point.

Twins

Author: Steven Underhill
Average review score:

Young, uninhibited and erotically provacative!
In this beautifully designed and bound volume of photos, Steven Underhill reveals his love of two young gods with radiant physiognomies - Bruce and Seth the twins. The volume shows them in playful and intimate moments in pictures full of erotic energy photographed over a long period. A great work by a master of his craft that gives the viewer a wonderful image of an inseparable bond.

Great photos, great models.
Steven Underhill has done IT again. What is IT? IT is an ability to not only find perfect male bodies but to capture their youthfull images in an erotic, yet classy setting. Bruce and Seth are perhaps better looking than the Brewer twins and are certainly more natural looking. Very good value for the money, let's hope the Hall twins will be back for more.

Summary
'Californian photographer Steven Underhill presents two young gods with radiant physiques - Bruce and Seth the Twins. Playful and intimate moments in pictures full of eroticism. A great work by a master of his craft who gives the viewer a wonderful image of an innocent and inseparable bond.'

Every Woman Has a Story: Many Voices, Many Lessons, Many Lives

a touching collection of emotional life experiences
These are the things we all feel and think at times in our lives about everyday life experiences. These women let us know we are not alone.Great reading to close your day contently.

Daryl Ott Underhill has done a wonderful job!
Daryl Ott Underhill has done a fabulous job! This collection of heartfelt, intelligently-selected essays by women from all walks of life should not be considered a "women's book." Everyone over the age of fourteen -- if not younger -- can derive pleasure and benefit. Because it is a collection and the stories are short, it can be read at odd moments, but the reader is apt to find hi/rself continuing to the end out of pure enjoyment. Phyllis Green, Chapel Hill, NC [Author of Spinning Straw: the Jeff Apple Story]

Honest and unassuming. A delightful read.
"EVERY WOMAN HAS A STORY" is a delightful read. I was impressed with the clever and yet simple idea of compiling a collection of personal stories, crossing socio-economic, ethnic, levels of education and age bounderies. The stories are as different as the women who wrote them, and yet the common thread is that of poignancy, honesty, a struggle to survive and grow, and a touch of humor thrown in for good measure. Some of the stories are simple, others more complex. I found them all to be human, tender and touching. I was particularly moved by Paula Silverberg's "LEAP AND THE NET WILL APPEAR". The charming tale of a young woman whose courage and determination in addressing a childhood disappointment, prompted her to face the "failure", muster the challenge, and, as an adult, emerge triumphant. A lesson for us all - "Feel the fear, but do it any way". As an added bonus I found the size and shape of the book to be reminiscent of a personal journal, and reading its content made it so much more endearing. Bravo to the ladies as well as the compiler! May we expect another collection soon?
